Jennifer Bethke

Jennifer Bethke is an art historian and art curator. She received her PhD in art history from UC Berkeley, and is presently the curator of education at the Sonoma County Museum in Santa Rosa, CA.



Luz Elena Castro

Luz Elena Castro is an award-winning independent photojournalist. Born and trained in Colombia, she has lived in the North Bay since 1996.

Luz Elena Castro is an award-winning independent photojournalist. Born and trained in Colombia, she has lived in the North Bay since 1996. She began her career as a photojournalist for Columbia newspapers and as a photojournalism instructor. She also has worked for EFE News Agency in Madrid, BBC London, and as photographer for César Gaviria during his 1989-90 presidential campaign. Her work has been shown in many prestigious galleries and museums in Colombia. In 1994 she represented Colombia in the Fifth Biennial of Art in Havana, Cuba. Her work in California has focused on economic disparities in the North Bay and on the Latino community.

Sibylla Herbrich

Sibylla Herbrich is a photographer and photo educator living in Sonoma County. Her background includes a career as a Bay Area photojournalist and photo editor.

Besides shooting magazine and corporate assignments, Sibylla enjoys teaching photojournalism courses at San Francisco State University and Santa Rosa Junior College.

Michael Schwager

Michael Schwager is Professor of Art History and Museum Studies and Director of the University Art Gallery at Sonoma State University. Prior to coming to SSU in 1991, Michael held various curatorial positions at the San Francisco Art Institute, the Richmond Art Center, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. He has organized numerous exhibitions and written extensively on Bay Area contemporary art. His most recent project was Personal Identities/Contemporary Portraits, an exhibition (with accompanying catalogue) at SSU that explored that explored the evolution of contemporary portraiture over the past several decades.
